Jumia Black Friday sales event officially unveiled


Its that time of the year where every retailer hosts a Black Friday sales event. During this time retailers are always bringing their vendors together in preparation for this event and this is exactly what Jumia did on Thursday 11 when it hosted its Jumia Black Friday Vendor Event at Movenpick Hotel in Westlands.

Jumia also used the opportunity to officially unveil its 2018 Black Friday sales event which will start on November 2 and run for an entire month dubbing it: Every Friday is Black Friday this November!

The Black Friday Vendor Event held annually brings together over 500 vendors in Nairobi in preparation for the Black Friday sales campaign. This year’s event included a presentation from Trade Ministry Permanent Secretary, Dr Chris Kiptoo, who spoke about the impact of e-commerce on employment in the country.

At the event, Jumia Managing Director, Sam Chappatte made some key announcement including their plans to support local SMEs in the coming year.

“To support the government’s Big Four Agenda on youth employment, we plan to invest significantly in training for small and medium-size businesses in 2019. Through this we hope to continue playing a part in the digitization of the economy and job creation”, he said.

He also announced that the e-commerce platform wants to significantly grow its vendor base from the current 10,000 to 15,000 by 2019. 

Jumia Black Friday : What to expect

Jumia says it expects this year’s Black Friday sales event to be twice as large as last years.

We still have around three weeks until the event actually arrives and Jumia says it will be offering some truly terrific deals that will let shoppers cross people off their holiday gift lists early. This means you should be on the look-out for some pre-Black Friday deals.

As part of the online retail giant’s new “Countdown to Black Friday” event, Jumia also announced a new partnership with Visa. The company will be offering free delivery for customers who pay with Visa (up to 250 KES). There will also be free orders for new customers to Jumia with Coca-Cola bottles. Expect

Expect discounts of up to 70% off on over 1 million products during the entire Jumaia Black Friday event.
