Huawei defies device norms by supporting 3G on the Mate 9 second simcard

Huawei Mobile Kenya officially launches Mate 9 in the Kenyan market months after unveiling the Huawei P9.  This follows the global launch of the flagship device early in November. The device is currently retailing at KES 69,999 in all Huawei Retail shops across the country.

The Huawei Mate 9 has some of the best features from its predecessor the Mate 8, which was launched earlier in the year under the Mate series. Some of the features include a larger display screen with a knock – on effect on its sharpness.  The device has 50% less heat emission with 8-layer thermal mechanics hence no voltage transformation in the phone.

So far the device has received much traction in the Kenyan market with over 90% pre-orders made across the region in the past two weeks. According to Mark Hemaobin, Managing Director, Huawei Mobile – Kenya.

“More users are starting to perceive the device as a fashion statement more than just a mobile device because of its color variations and stylish design. Naturally, users would expect one sim card to support 3G services on any mobile device; this is not the case with the Mate 9.” Said Hemaobin.  The company used a powerful chipset, Kirin 960 on the Mate 9 that supports both 4G and 3G on the first and second sim cards respectively, this, therefore, gives the users a chance to choose which network to use on the same device depending on their activities.

“The Kirin 960, therefore, makes the phone more powerful to handle various tasks at the same time its cooling feature disperses heat thanks to 8 layers of thermal mechanic technology embedded in the device”, he concluded. The Mate 9 which is available in Champagne Gold and Mocha Brown is a major player for Huawei to push its flagship smartphones not only in Kenya but in other global markets.

Today’s Android smartphones face a common flaw – over time, they lose their speed, responsiveness, and momentum, in what we refer to as performance erosion. With the Mate 9, Huawei is introducing a dynamic interplay of industry-leading hardware and advanced software that works together to bring consumers a new kind of Smartphone experience that gets smarter and more efficient the more you use it. The HUAWEI Mate 9’s Kirin 960 chipset puts faster computing at your fingertips, and its innovative, intuitive EMUI 5.0 learns and adapts to your usage behaviors, optimizing performance throughout the lifetime of the device, while also offering breakthrough battery power.
