Safaricom Partners with Quickmart to Expand 4G & 5G Home Internet Access Across Kenya

The Safaricom strategic partnership with top retailer Quickmart is aimed at enhancing access to its 4G and 5G home internet solutions. This partnership will thus serve Kenyan households with fast and reliable connectivity by ensuring that all customers can purchase home internet routers from any of the 61 Quickmart outlets countrywide.

In preparing the way for an easy customer journey, Safaricom has allowed its customers to activate their routers through a self-service method. A customer can now activate the router immediately after the purchase by scanning a QR code, which registers the SIM card, activates the account, purchases a package, and allows the customer to enjoy internet access with immediate effect.

“In line with our purpose of transforming lives, we are continuously innovating to provide our customers with the best connectivity solutions. This partnership will ensure that more Kenyans can access reliable home internet with ease, thus reinforcing our promise on seamless connectivity and great value,” said Fawzia Ali, Chief Consumer Business Officer, Safaricom PLC.

The partnership leverages Quickmart’s retail network across the country to bring Safaricom’s home internet solutions closer to the customers.

“We are excited to collaborate with Safaricom to offer our customers easy access to high-speed internet solutions. This partnership aligns with our goal to provide convenience and value to Kenyans by making essential services readily available at our stores,” said J. Thuku, Chief Commercial Officer, Quickmart.

The 4G and 5G routers, each retailing for KES 2,999, are being made available for purchase at Safaricom Retail Shops, authorized Safaricom dealers, and through Masoko.co.ke, other than Quickmart outlets. Plans are underway to partner with more retailers across the country.

With 97% of the Kenyan population covered by Safaricom’s 4G network and 5G networks now operational in all the 47 counties, customers residing far away from fiber coverage are now able to enjoy seamless internet connectivity in their homes.

The available packages for the 5G router include:

  • 50 Mbps – KES 4,000 (30 Days)
  • 100 Mbps – KES 5,000 (30 Days)
  • 250 Mbps – KES 10,000 (30 Days)

Available packages for 4G Wi-Fi bundles include:

  • KES 499 – 7.5GB (7 Days)
  • KES 999 – 25GB (30 Days)

These initiatives are part of Safaricom’s efforts to engage with customers and partners as it gears up to celebrate 25 years of operations in the market.
