TECNO Phantom V Fold2 and the Phantom V Flip2 were launched in Kenya recently and these two are the company’s latest second-generation foldables in the book style and clamshell-style formats. They succeed the first generation Phantom V Fold and the Phantom V Flip launched last year respectively.
The TECNO Phantom V Fold2 sports a new slimmer and lighter body at 6.1mm when unfolded and at 249 grams which means it is less hefty than its predecessor. The same screen dimensions are retained with the new model at 6.42 inches for the cover display and 7.85 inches for the main display. The V Fold2 has a bigger battery as well. It has IP54 ingress protection and stylus support.
The cover screen is an LTPO AMOLED type with 1080 by 2550 pixel resolution, 120Hz refresh rate and 1600 nits peak brightness. It is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus. The main screen is also a Foldable LTPO AMOLED screen with 2000 by 2296 pixel resolution and 120Hz refresh rate
TECNO integrated Ella AI assistant with Google Gemini for its AI capabilities. Some of the features powered by TECNO AI include AI Smart Eraser, Smart Photo Editor, AI Wallpaper, AI-powered Universal Tone Technology, Video Creator, AI writing, AI Artboard, Rewrite, AI Translation, Smart Q&A, and AI Summary.
TECNO Phantom V Fold2 is powered by a Dimensity 9000+ processor with 12GB RAM and 512GB storage. It has Android 14 and HiOS 14 Fold.
It comes with triple 50MP rear cameras – a 50MP wide with OIS, a 50MP telephoto with 2x optical zoom and a 50MP ultrawide with 4K 30fps video recording. It also has a 32MP selfie camera on the main display and a 32MP secondary selfie camera on the cover screen.
The phone has a 5750mAh battery and supports 70W wired charging and 15W wireless charging.
TECNO Phantom V Fold2 is priced at Ksh 135,000.
The Phantom V Flip2 comes with an even bigger cover screen that can be used a full-fledged display so you can use regular apps on it. It is a 3.64-inch screen and with a 6.0-inch LTPO AMOLED main screen with 120Hz refresh rate and FHD+ resolution.
It weighs 200g and is 7.6mm slim when unfolded. It also ships with TECNO AI and Ella AI assistant just like the TECNO Phantom V Fold2. It has Android 14 and HiOS 14 plus it’s powered by Dimensity 8020 processor with 8GB onboard RAM and 256GB storage.
For cameras, it has dual 50MP main cameras at the back – a wide and ultrawide and a 32Mp selfie camera.
It has a 4720mAh battery which supports 70W wired charging. It will be going for Ksh 82,000.
