Oppo Reno7 series officially launched in Kenya
Oppo is finally making its new devices in the Reno series, the Oppo Reno7 available in the Kenyan market. The company officially launched the series on Monday via a virtual live stream.
The Oppo Reno7 series features two devices – the standard 4G Oppo Reno7 and the Oppo Reno7 5G (Unboxing Video).
The Oppo Reno7 series succeeds the Reno6 which we really loved. It also comes with some slight upgrades. For example, it comes with the world’s first ultra-sensing selfie IMX709 sensor ”manufactured by Sony and designed by Oppo” according to a statement from the company.
Important to also note that the local unveiling of the Oppo Reno7 series is also the first in Africa. Let’s dive deep into each of the device
Oppo Reno7 Specs
The phone comes with a triple rear camera setup featuring a 64-megapixel primary sensor, an 8-megapixel wide-angle sensor, and a 2-megapixel macro sensor. For selfies and video calls, we’re getting a 32-megapixel selfie sensor.
The standard Reno7 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 while the 5G variant which we actually have as a review unit features the same Dimensity 900 chipset that powered its predecessor, the Reno6 5G.
For the display, we are getting a 6.4-inch AMOLED display similar to the one on the previous phone. It has a full-HD+ resolution, 90Hz refresh rate and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection.
For the batter, the Reno7 features a 4500mAh battery combined with 33W SUPERVOOC. Oppo claims you can get 100 mins’ video-viewing with 5 mins’ charge¹¹, and charge to 32% in 15 mins.
The Reno7 comes in two colour options, the Sunset Orange and Cosmic Black. The 5G variant we have is a Starry Black colour option. Reno7 in Sunset Orange makes use of its own Fiberglass-Leather design, bringing an entirely new tactile sensation to the Reno series in the process. The. Cosmic Black on the other hand makes use of the iconic OPPO Glow effect to create a back cover that is glossy in appearance with a fingerprint-resistant matte texture.
Oppo Reno7 5G has been created by the innovative use of Laser Direct Imaging (LDI) manufacturing process on the exterior of a smartphone. The use of LDI technology is the first time LDI has ever been applied to the exterior design of a mobile device. It is also the first time that Oppo itself has used laser engraving technology to perform additional precision processing on top of the Oppo Glow layer.
Oppo says it has applied LDI processing to draw 1.2 million micro-rasters, and each raster has been created with a precision of just 20 microns. ”This creates a visual and textural illusion of shooting stars streaming across the device that shine and fade into the black galaxy as the phone is held in the hand.” it said in a statement.
