Jumia launches Food Festival campaign to support local restaurants

E-commerce platform Jumia has launched a Food Festival Campaign to support local restaurants. The campaign will run from 19th March to 4th April and has been organized in partnership with local restaurants like Ukwaju bites by Tamarind, Bhajia house, Nyama mama, Zubidubi, 10 street, Mikaye and Baba Nyama Choma.

Other restaurants include blue-chip international chains such as Steers, Debonairs, Fogo gaucho, and Big Square.

The food festival campaign, according to Jumia follows the president’s directive to extend the curfew for additional 60-days following the increased rate of 3rd wave of covid-19 in Kenya.

“We hope that this campaign will surprise and delight our customers. Much of the industry is struggling to get back on its feet – and very much still feeling the effects of COVID,” said Sam Chappatte, Jumia Kenya CEO adding that Jumia Food is ramping up capacity to support restaurants over the extended curfew period.

During the campaign, consumers will get free and fast delivery from hundreds of restaurants, supermarkets and shops with Jumia Prime. 3 month subscriptions start from Ksh 499, 6 months free delivery from Ksh 1,099 while annual subscription is Ksh 1,999.

Jumia Prime is a loyalty program that allows its members to benefit from free delivery on their Jumia and Jumia Food orders, in addition to exclusive promotions.

“Home food delivery from restaurants is growing fast, as more consumers are choosing to order from home or the office and want to avoid crowds. As a business, we sincerely appreciate our partner Jumia Food for putting our business on the map and giving us visibility to many consumers during Covid-19 period. 60% of our growth in Kenya is attributed to Jumia Food – in particular, their aggressive marketing and continuous support.” said James Ouma, Franchise Manager, Debonairs Pizza, Kenya.
