Safaricom’s Platinum Bundle Offering Ends August 30

Safaricom plans to sunset its Platinum Bundles by August 30 this year. The telco sent the following message to subscribers of the Platinum bundles on Monday evening.

“Dear customer, Platinum plans will NOT be available from Aug 30, 2020,” the telco wrote in an SMS.

Safaricom additionally advised its subscribers to opt for All in One bundle instead.

“For value & better experience simply dial *544# select normal bundles then All in One.”

Safaricom Platinum bundles were started by the telco on 23rd of February 2018 described as “a life-style driven monthly service that gives customers a worry free mobile plan.” It included an all in one solution with both data and minutes – both on-net and off-net and some with internal minutes – plus unlimited WhatsApp and SMS.

The cheapest plan started at Ksh 1000. Compared to what the telco is recommending – All in One Bundle – you’re still getting data and SMS bundles, minutes, free WhatsApp as well as 2GB data for streaming YouTube only.

The sunset also makes sense given that the telco harmonized its PostPay bundles in March this year. So purchasing bundles is now easier, you either choose All in One if you prefer Prepaid or go all-in on Safaricom Postpaid plans.
