Safaricom Will Have A System Maintenance On Sunday – Here’s What You Need To Know


Kenya’s largest internet service provider, Safaricom, has a planned system maintenance that will take place this Sunday (22nd March). During the upgrade, various services will be down, but the core ones will remain available.

The following services won’t be affected;

  • Calls
  • SMS
  • M-PESA
  • Internet and data services

Other services shall be temporarily unavailable during the Safaricom system maintenance between 2 am and 8 am. Among the affected services include;

  • Airtime top-up, both via scratch card and M-PESA
  • Product purchases i.e. data, voice and SMS bundles
  • Bonga point services
  • Balance transfers
  • Balance inquires on airtime, data, and SMS
