This 1TB SanDisk Extreme microSD card costs as much as your smartphone

Well, years have passed, and with the minor (inappreciable)upgrades happening in the technology industry every day, over time, these upgrades turn out to be massive. Smartphones have now upgraded few notches up, bringing massive 12GB of RAM and stocking up to 1TB of internal storage.

Plus, these phones also happen to have a microSD card slot that lets you bump up the story even much higher up to 1TB. Meaning, you can have 2TB of storage alongside you – whenever you go. That is more than what some laptops currently offer – what an amazing time to be alive.

SanDisk announced its 1TB microSD card earlier this year and even went ahead to release it on the market. You may be asking, but what about the price? Hold on, that is, in fact, the next destination.

To get the biggest microSD card that ever graced the planet you have to pay, ahem… $449.99(approx. Ksh 46,000).  Has anyone set aside $450 to play with already?

SanDisk’s 1TB microSD card not only boasts about its massive storage capacity but is also a U3-rated card meaning it can store 4K videos with ease. The card is also in the Extreme-rated category in SanDisk promising to offer up to 160MB/s read, and 90MB/s write speeds.

I know that’s pricey despite the features thrown at our disposal. But alternatively, you can get a variant with less storage like 512GB which costs half less.

But who is this for anyway? This may be for videographers or just anyone who likes watching so many movies and has not yet known the delete button exists. And this also applies to individuals who haven’t embraced cloud storage yet – or feel storing in the cloud is a security risk.

Or maybe the individuals who like playing (a lot) mobile games. For me, buying a 1TB microSD card for games is extravagant – the space is too much. But if the 1TB SanDisk Extreme microSD card is still a go-to option for you, then I advise buying a little patience instead.

Now, is just not the time for this, 256GB or even 512GB of internal storage is more than enough.
