This new electronic health solution helps doctors monitor patients after they have left the hospital

Until recent years, the medical field has been largely unaffected by the rapid pace of technological innovations that is characteristic of the digital age. However, this is changing technology is now beginning to extend into the medical field. With advances in medical technology, physicians are now able to gather more information, as well as better and more specific data.

Physicians will tell you an Electronic health records solution that helps them monitor patients after they have left the clinic/hospitals would be one the most effective ways to improve the outcome of Chronic illnesses. It would even be better if gadgets like BP machine and glucometers would transfer data directly to the patient’s Electronic Health records in the doctor’s clinic. The truth is This kind of technology has been around for a while in the first world countries but the good news is the same is now happening in Kenya. DrHub comes as an end to end electronic Health solution that does not only help physicians manage their clinics but also creates a seamless flow of information between all parties involved in patients care.

Ikiara Nguta, the Managing Director of DrHub Kenya says with healthcare being a complex ecosystem, they created DrHub as a solution to make long processes short and tasks that looked difficult easier.

‘’A wide variety of digital innovations are revolutionizing the healthcare sector, and these technologies are here to stay. These technologies are impacting the delivery of healthcare across the world, hence making the delivery of these services easier. ‘’ Ikiara Nguta says.

Dr.Hub uses three integrated modules designed to meet the needs of the clinician, the health facility, and the patient.

The modules include DRHub EHS, a customizable Electronics Health Records System that empowers doctors to manage their facility electronically. It helps clinicians to store patient’s data electronically and define their clinical workflows and treatment plans to enhance patient outcomes. Included functions are patient queuing, Patient Charting, prescriptions, Labs and Imaging, Calendars and Appointments. Besides that, it has a finance module that makes it easy for clinicians to manage their revenue and insurance claims. Clinicians can customize DrHub according to their own unique workflow.

The DRHub patient’s portal is the second module that gives patients access to their health records on demand, enables them to consolidate their health data from wearable devices and mobile apps, see key health information recorded during their visits, including; Future appointments, Recent lab tests, Medication, diagnosis and more. Unlike the old days where it was hard for patients to access their health data from their doctors, DrHub allows clinicians to send you your health records electronically on demand through your unique patient portal. With a DrHub patient portal account, patients can move to a new physician with all their health records allowing better continuity of care

The DRHub Remote patient monitoring is the third Module that helps a physician monitor his/her patients who are away from the clinic. This module enables physicians to receive the patient’s vitals, blood glucose levels, oxygen concentration and so on directly from the patients BP machines, glucometers, Pulse oximetrs and other devices. The data is stored directly into the patient’s electronic health records in the doctor’s clinic and this allows evidence-based decisions by the doctor. Ikiara says they are doing this in partnership with companies that have Bluetooth enables devices.

She adds that they are also working closely with pharmaceutical companies that are working with doctors in trying to monitor the effectiveness of their interventions to certain non-communicable diseases.

Ikiara adds that the beauty about Technological advancements like DrHub is they are very cost-effective and they show what quality data can do to improve healthcare.
