Xiaomi’s new Mi Max 2 packs a 6.44-inch display and 5300mAh battery


 

Xiaomi has launched the Mi Max 2 phablet with a massive 6.44-inch display. The Mi Max 2 is the successor of the Mi Max which was launched May last year.

Xiaomi has unveiled the Phablet in China and it is not yet clear when it is going to hit other markets.  There are however a lot of interesting specs to look out for on the Mi Max 2.

Well, first, the phablet rocks a 6.44-inch IPS LCD Full HD  (1080 x 1920 pixels) display with a pixel density of 342 PPi. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset that consists of eight cortex-A53 cores clocked at 2.0GHz coupled with Adreno 506 GPU.

In terms of storage, Xiaomi gave the Mi Max 2  4GB RAM and 64/128GB internal storage with an option to expand the storage via microSD card upto 256GB. It runs on Android 7 nougat with the company’s customer software layer MIUI 8 on the top.

It also comes with a massive non-removable 5300mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support fuels the device. Well, this large battery coupled with power efficient Snapdragon 625 processor should provide excellent battery life. Xiaomi says it provides as much as 68% battery life from a one-hour charge.

The Mi Max 2 sports a 12-megapixel rear camera with PDAF support and dual-LED flash. Xiaomi is using a Sony IMX386 sensor with 1.25-micron pixels for better handling of different lighting situations. The company has also added a 5-megapixel front camera on board.

The Mi Max 2 is priced at $245 that around Kshs. 24,000 for the 64GB version and $290, around Kshs.29,000 for the 128GB version. As we said we are not sure when it is going to hit other markets, but its definitely one of those devices we should be looking forward to.
