The TECNO Camon 17 Pro has been selling in the local market for close to a month now. TECNO Mobile officially unveiled the series in May this year that included a regular CAMON 17 and a Pro version.
The Camon 17 is the successor to the CAMON 16 that TECNO launched in August last year. It’s also the first device we’re seeing from the company this year.
TECNO Camon 17 price in Kenya starts at KES 17,499 for 4GB and 128GB of internal storage. The bigger 6GB RAM + 128GB ROM model goes for KES 19,999. The Camon 17 Pro on the other hand starts at Ksh.31,000.
We had the Camon 17 Pro as a review unit and already did the unboxing video for you which you can check below or read about it here.
The Camon 17 is a pretty cool device featuring a number of interesting features including a MediaTek Helio G95 processor, 8GB of RAM, and 256GB of ROM.
In this article we will be talking about our three favorite features on the device.
The Display and 90Hz refresh rate
The TECNO Camon 17 Pro is a mid-range device and we’re getting a massive 6.80-inch display with a resolution of 1080×2460 pixels at a pixel density of 395 pixels per inch (ppi).
And just as we have seen in most smartphones being launched in this price segment, we are also getting a Full HD+ display 90Hz refresh rate. This refresh rate makes using the phone more enjoyable. Scrolling through the display is smooth, switching through apps is also quite good and for those who enjoy playing games, the display offers quite a sleek experience.
A higher refresh rate basically makes your smartphone experience better. If you’re the kind of person who spends so much time staring at your smartphone screen, a higher refresh rate also makes your eyes feel less tired. This is the experience you’re getting with the Camon 17 Pro.
I can’t really remember the last time I used an SD card for all the phones I have used over the last couple of years. I mean, do I really need an external SD card in these days of the cloud and growing internal storage?
When looking into buying a new phone, storage is always a factor to consider. TECNO for example added a whopping 256 gigabytes of onboard storage on the CAMON 17 Pro – the most I have seen on any TECNO device. This should be enough to store all your files and even have some gigs left.
We have written so many articles here on how fast charging in smartphones is growing. Fast charging is a tech that we have seen a number of high-end phones from different brands launch with.
Xiaomi for example unveiled the Mi 10 Ultra with 120W fast charging in August last year. A couple of weeks ago, the company also unveiled a new 200W charging tech called hypercharge that it says can charge a 4000mAh phone in just 8 minutes. Infinix is also said to be working on a phone supporting 160W Ultra Fast Charge.
The Camon 17 Pro supports 25W fast charging. Well, note the fastest that we have seen but it really comes in handy.
The 25W fast-charging can get the 5,000mAh battery from 10% to 17% in just 30 minutes. Pretty impressive if you ask me.
We will have a separate article about the Cameras where we’ll be sharing all our favorite photos taken by the Camon 17 Pro.
