Huawei launched its Y9 Prime 2019 locally in July, and now the company wants to refresh the Y series lineup with a new phone.The device in question is the Huawei Y9s, which is a successor to the Y9 Prime 2019.
Well, it has been less than six months, and what you are looking for here is a small upgrade over the Y9 Prime 2019.
The major upgrade is a memory bump, from 4GB to 6GB, and the fingerprint sensor has been moved to the side of the device. Other specs are much similar. But if you have the Y9 Prime and need a memory upgrade, this is the device to go for.
Huawei Y9s is powered by a 4,000mAh battery and supports 10W fast charging. The display is LCD type and measures 6.59 inches with 1080 x 2340 pixels resolution. The phone is presented in a 19.5:9 ratio, thus resulting in about 391 pixels per inch.
Huawei’s Octa-core Kirin 710F is still the processor here, paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The device supports storage expansion via a microSD card up to 512GB.
On the camera front, there is a trio camera setup on the back. The primary sensor is a 48MP one similar to the one stacked in the Huawei P30 Lite New Edition. In addition to that, there is an 8 MP (ultrawide) lens and a 2 MP (f/2.4) depth sensor. The front camera is a motorized popup selfie made of a 16MP lens.
Huawei Y9s will be available for pre-order starting from the 22nd to 28th of November with official sales starting on the 29th. It will be available in all Huawei branded retail stores across the country. The price starts at Ksh 31,999 and comes in two color options to choose from – Midnight Blue and Breathing Crystal.
Huawei says those who pre-order the device will also be getting a free wireless speaker.
