How to stream music on Boomplay for as low as Ksh.49 from your Telkom line

Music streaming service Boomplay recently announced a new partnership with leading telco Telkom Kenya.

The partnership will enable Telkom Kenya subscribers to enjoy more affordable music streaming and downloads on the Boomplay app for as low as Ksh.49 per week.

The streaming music packages include daily at KSh. 49, weekly at KSh. 159 and a monthly subscription at KSh. 299, which will be charged from the subscriber’s airtime.

This development is the streamer’s first partnership with a telco in Kenya.

In this article we take you step by step on how to subscribe to this service. Important to note that this service is exclusively only available to Telkom Kenya customers so the first starting point will be making sure you are a Telkom customer.

How to subscribe

Download the Boomplay app from the Playstore of the Apple store depending on the ecosystem you’re tied to. I am an Android user so the attached screenshots are from my Android phone.

After downloading the app, you can sign up if you’re a new user or log in to the app if you’re an existing user. Once you’ve signed up or registered, select subscribe under your profile.

Select ”Purchase Boomplay Subscriptions With TELKOM Airtime”

Once you select this option you will be directed to a page containing all the packages we mentioned earlier – daily at KSh. 49, weekly at KSh. 159 and a monthly subscription at KSh. 299.

For our trial, we selected the daily subscription at KSh. 49. Click Next, and then enter your phone number and the verification code sent to you via text to verify the purchase and that’s it.

Important to also note that the subscription you choose can be renewed and you can also cancel them by simply dialling *456#. If your account is not authorised, an SMS text “BOOM” needs to send to shortcode “25470123” for confirmation.

Payment for the service would be debited from your airtime.

These packages will also give Telkom subscribers access to ad-free music and unrestricted downloads from local and international artists whose music is available on Boomplay.
