Asus officially unveiled the ZenBook 14 Flip OLED laptop globally back in March this year. The company actually unveiled two laptops the Zenbook 14X OLED and Zenbook 14 Flip OLED laptops with the displays being the standout feature.
The ZenBook series has always been our favourite from Asus. If you’ve read all the previous reviews we have done about the laptops in this series, we have always described Asus as a leading brand when it comes to innovation and so we were really looking forward to checking out what the company did with the new Zenbooks this year. So when the company asked if they could send us the Zenbook 14 Flip OLED, we said why not?
We spent some little time with the laptop and in this article, we will be highlighting some of our favourite features and all the other things we loved about the laptop.
The Zenbook 14 Flip OLED offers some premium features and is a great option for anyone looking for a premium windows convertible laptop experience. Let’s look at some of these top features.
OLED Display + A pretty good design
The OLED display is one of the key selling points for this laptop. Important to note that Asus has stuck with this OLED mantra since 2021 and its OLED laptops like the Zenbook 13 from that year were actually our favourites.
The OLED screen has 16:10 aspect ratio and a resolution of 2.8K. It also supports HDR, has a 1,000,000 to 1 contrast ratio, and is PANTONE validated. The display covers 100% DCI-P3 and is TÜV-certified for low blue-light levels. The display also features a 90Hz refresh rate.
Most brands still feature an IPL LCD screen even on their premium laptops so I will really give Asus a plus here. The company has upgraded almost all the laptops in its Zenbook series to OLED.
When it comes to the design, Asus has maintained the same design we saw on the previous Zenbook Flip models. We are still getting that slim laptop with sleek edges and some nicely designed sides that cleverly hold the ports.
The Zenbook 14 Flip OLED has a full-sized HDMI port (2.0b), a USB-A port, two USB Type-C display ports, a microSD card slot, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. There is also a USB Type-C port for charging, and the laptop also ships with a 100W USB-PD charger in the box.
The exclusive 360° ErgoLift hinge design is pretty solid and allows the display to be flipped to any position, according to the user’s requirement. Asus says the hinge is durability-tested for over 20,000 open/close cycles. The ErgoLift design also tilts the keyboard automatically when the laptop is opened. This design not only allows you to type more comfortably, but also increases the ventilation space under the chassis for improved heat dissipation.
Asus Zenbook 14 Flip OLED Keyboard
We are also getting an edge-to-edge keyboard design that we have seen in all previous Zenbooks. Asus has efficiently used the entire space which is quite impressive. If you have used an Asus Zenbook laptop before you know how comfortable the keyboard is, you are getting the same experience on the Zenbook 14 OLED.
The keys are well spaced and there’s also backlighting for convenient typing in dark environments. The trackpad is also very smooth and accurate so nothing really to complain about here.
I also need to mention that the Asus Zenbook 14 Flip OLED features a new Power key design which also integrates the Fingerprint function, giving users more security login options.
Powering the Asus Zenbook 14 Flip OLED is the Intel Core i7-1165G7 Processor 2.8 GHz (12M Cache, up to 4.7 GHz, 4 cores) with Intel Iris Xe graphics. It runs everything fast and handles multiple tasks at once without any lags. You can play some games and do some professional work without experiencing any lags.
Compared with the previous generation of processors, the 11th Gen Intel Core™ processors provide better computing performance and can enable FHD gameplay at up to 60 fps with better battery life and mobility than previously possible.
The laptop also supports up to 16 GB of onboard memory.
The laptop also comes with a 63 Wh lithium-polymer battery which can provide you with more than enough juice to cover a day of work or play unplugged.
