It’s close to two weeks since Infinix Mobility launched the new Infinix Note 3 smartphone into the Kenyan market. I have been interacting with it since it was launched and the device is indeed worth the price it is going for, Kshs.15,00.

The Infinix Note 3 is a complete upgrade from its predecessor, the Note 2, featuring a number of new enhanced and upgraded features. I will be telling you about these features in this review, which I am sure most of you have been waiting for.

My first impression of the Infinix Note 3 since the leaks started coming out were positive. With competition in the smartphone market in Kenya getting stiff, Infinix mobile did not want to be left behind with the Note 3. Overall, I love the device, from the size, the specifications including its performance.

As I had mentioned, we had already done the unboxing which you can check HERE. More photos are also available on the article and you can check out what Infinix Mobile did with the Note 3 design. The screen size i 6’’ just like the Note 2, though with a better screen resolution. It is a full HD device with a screen resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and a screen resolution density of 368 ppi.

The device is also slimmer and lighter unlike the Note 3 and feels really good on the hand. The fact that it is metallic makes it even more interesting.

Software and performance

The Infinix NOTE 3 comes with a 1.3 GHz Octa-core CPU running a 2GB of RAM. The phone also comes preloaded with Android 6.0 Marshmallow.  Added to this is the Infinix exclusive OS- the XOS Chameleon, which I must admit is one of the best things I loved about this device. From the notifications, the icons color and the processing speed, I find the XOS quite interesting, better that HiOS i can say.

In terms of memory, the Infinix Note 3 gives you 16GB inbuilt storage expandable to 128GB with a microSD.

To ensure the device security, the Note 3 also comes with a fingerprint sensor. During the launch, Infinix said all its future devices will now come with this feature. This was a great move, considering most smartphones now come with this feature. I did not have any problems setting up and verifying my fingerprint, just some few steps and I was done.

Apart from just locking your phone, you can also use your fingerprint to authorize app access.  You can also use it as a shutter button when taking photos and even use it to pick calls.

The gesture and smart motion feature makes the device so easy to use. For example, you can tap to wake your phone, you can quick start your device by making a specific gesture with your finger over the off screen. The smart motion feature allows you to unlock your phone by waving your palm across the top of the phone.

Camera

The Infinix Note 3 features a 13 megapixels rear camera with up to 3264 x 2448-pixel pictures, HDR, autofocus with LED flash. There are so many phones I have reviewed with a 13MP camera but I feel the Note 3 really stands out. The photo quality is just so impressive.

The 5 megapixels front camera does not also disappoint. The image quiality is really amazing.

Battery and Aeroscope Cooling Technology

Now this is the real deal when it comes to the Infinix Note 3. Remember the #5MinCharge200Minutes hashtag? What this meant is that the Note 3 can give you up to 200 minutes talk time with just 5 minutes of charging. How is this possible? The inclusion of duo 4.5A charging engines with MediaTek PumpExpress fast charging technology ensures  a fast and safe charging process of the Infinix Note 3.

The inbuilt battery is 4500 mAh, an improvement from the 4040mAh battery we saw on the Note 2.

Infinix also decided to add the Aeroscope Cooling Technology on the Note 3.  This is the first device from Infinix to feature this technology and what it does is prevent your phone from overheating.

Verdict….

I was looking forward to getting my hands on this device from the moment the leaks started coming out. Is it a device I can recommend to someone? Why? It has all the features anyone would dream in a phone.  The 4G  version is expected to hit the market soon and we hope it will have more improved specs.
