Meet SILK, first smartphone  to be designed in Kenya


The number of smartphone users continue to increase drastically in Kenya. This increase has been attributed to so many smartphone brands entering the Kenyan offering quality and budget friendly phones.

But now, a Kenyan company, Synnergy Innovations has joined in the competition and created the first ever smartphone which they say will offer top performance similar what other brands are offering in the market. Known as SILK (Synnergy Innovations Kenya Limited) Patriot, Synnergy innovations say the phone is true Kenyan identity and will give users great performance at an affordable cost.

Just the other day, SILK also passed an audit to bear the Brand Kenya Mark of quality. The smartphone had also already been approved by Kenya Bureau of Standards, Communications Authority of Kenya and US’ Federal Communications Commission as fit for the market.

The phone is already available in retail stores and we also have it with us.

  • OS: Android 4.4 (Kit Kat)
  • CPU: Quad Core 1.2GHz
  • Memory: 4 GB
  • Front Camera : 2.0 MP
  • Rear Camera: 8.0 MP
  • Battery : 2150mAh
  • Sim: Dual Sim

Synnergy innovations say they have given this product a Kenyan touch and one way they are doing that is working with local app developers to have their apps on the SILK Patriot smartphone. For example they phone has a TUKO app, and also a social networking application called Yielloh that will be preinstalled in the phone. Synergy innovation say they are still talking to other developers to have their apps on the SILK smartphone.
