SoundCloud desktop App is now here, and it’s open source

SoundCloud has for a long time been my service of choice when  looking for new music online. Most of my artist friends also use the service when promoting their new music, but the fact remained it had to leave my browser after I am done listening to the new track I was looking for.

This is however going to change. We now have a built the SoundCloud desktop app bringing the service to your Windows, Mac or Linux desktop, thanks to Michael Lancaster, a Chicago based developer.

Complete with keyboard shortcuts and full Soundcloud features, the app actually looks great for desktop.

The developer did not stop there, he has actually made it fully open source meaning you’re able to grab the full source, tweak it and contribute back to the project if you’re so inclined.

This is indeed something we were really waiting for.

You can download the app here.
