Gebeya Partners with InterNetX to Enable Local Domain Registration in Africa

Gebeya, an Africa-focused agentic AI company, has announced a strategic partnership with European domain registrar InterNetX, part of the IONOS Group, to enable domain registration directly within Gebeya’s digital platforms.

The integration will allow African entrepreneurs, freelancers, and small businesses to search, purchase, and manage website domains using local payment methods, removing a long-standing barrier that has limited domain ownership across the continent.

Despite the rapid expansion of Africa’s digital economy, domain ownership remains relatively low compared to global markets. Many entrepreneurs struggle to register domains due to international credit card requirements, foreign currency payments, and other financial restrictions.

Through the partnership, InterNetX’s domain management platform AutoDNS will be integrated into Gebeya’s ecosystem, including the Jitume AI service marketplace and the Dala AI creator studio. This will enable users to register domains, provision SSL certificates, and manage their digital presence without relying on international payment systems.

Gebeya currently has more than 90,000 users across its platforms, including freelancers, service providers, and digital creators. According to the company, one of the most common challenges raised by users has been the inability to purchase professional domains due to payment restrictions tied to international credit cards and U.S. dollar transactions.

The new integration addresses this issue by embedding domain search, registration, and management tools directly within Gebeya’s platforms through a white-label solution. Users will be able to complete domain registration in minutes using locally available payment methods such as mobile money or other regional payment systems.

Amadou Daffe, CEO of Gebeya, said the partnership is part of a broader effort to build digital infrastructure that supports Africa’s growing service economy.

“We are building the operating system for Africa’s service economy, and a professional web presence is fundamental to that vision,” Daffe said. “By partnering with InterNetX, we can offer seamless domain access without the friction of international payments. This enables African entrepreneurs to own their digital identity and compete globally.”

Elias Rendón Berger, CEO of InterNetX, said the collaboration will help accelerate the growth of Africa’s digital entrepreneurship ecosystem.

“By combining our infrastructure with Gebeya’s local market expertise and payment capabilities, we’re making it easier for African businesses to establish a credible and secure online presence,” he said.

For freelancers, creators, and small businesses using Gebeya’s platforms, the integration introduces several benefits. Users will be able to purchase domains without needing a credit card, transact in local currencies without foreign exchange restrictions, and bundle domain registration, SSL security, and website creation within a single platform.

The initiative also aligns with Gebeya’s broader commitment to developing African-owned digital infrastructure, supporting local hosting and digital sovereignty.

The partnership is also expected to support Gebeya’s long-term growth strategy. The company aims to scale its platforms to one million users, providing entrepreneurs with a full suite of digital tools needed to build, manage, and grow online businesses.

As more African professionals move toward freelancing, remote work, and digital entrepreneurship, accessible domain ownership is increasingly seen as a foundational step in building a professional online presence and participating in the global digital economy.
