Absa Bank Kenya and Visa Unveil Digital-First Metal Cards

Absa Bank Kenya, in partnership with Visa, has launched a premium, digital-first card proposition. Announced during the 2026 Magical Kenya Open, the new suite aims to bridge the gap between global luxury and local digital convenience.
The centerpiece of the launch is the Absa Visa Infinite Metal card, available in both Debit and Credit variants. Beyond its refined aesthetic, the card features seamless connectivity with M-PESA Paybill and Till numbers directly via the card.
It also supports Tap n’ Pay functionality through NFC-enabled smartphones and Garmin sports watches, offering customers fluid, secure, and convenient payment experiences. Through the Absa Mobile App, cardholders can access flexible features, including an automated Buy Now Pay Later option that allows purchases to be converted into structured payment plans.
It also gives customers access immense travel benefits with an International travel insurance of upto USD 2.5 Million, Various curated travels offers and discounts in key destinations like Dubai , London, New York through the Visa Destination propositio.
Speaking at the launch, Moses Muthui, Absa Bank Kenya’s Director of Consumer Banking, noted that this is the first phase of a broader rollout.
“The Absa Visa Infinite card is our response to the evolving demands of the Kenyan customer. Whether tapping a smartwatch or converting a transaction in the app, our customers are assured of security and fluidity wherever they are.’’
Linda Kimani, Head of Card Payments at Absa Bank Kenya, emphasized the blend of local utility and global prestige. “We are merging luxury and digital integration into one exclusive experience, redefining what modern banking feels like,” she said.
