KCB Bank and Visa Launch New Business Credit Card to Empower Kenyan SMEs

KCB Bank has joined forces with Visa to introduce a new Business Credit Card tailored for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Kenya. The card is designed to help entrepreneurs oversee cash flow, monitor operational costs, and manage their daily business needs more effectively.

This business-focused solution provides companies with access to working capital through a revolving credit facility, offering up to 45 days of interest-free financing.

This business-focused credit solution provides companies with critical access to working capital through a revolving credit facility offering up to 45 days of interest-free financing. To accommodate diverse business models, customers can choose between a Kenya Shillings (KES) card or a US Dollar (USD) card. Furthermore, the offering includes advanced expense management features such as individual employee cards and detailed monthly reconciliation statements to ensure financial transparency.

An additional advantage of this collaboration is the access to Visa commercial offers, which provide SMEs with exclusive discounts that support cost savings on business spending as they advance their digital transformation initiatives.

This solution is a core pillar of KCB’s broader digital and innovation strategy, which focuses on delivering seamless payment solutions that respond to evolving consumer needs while enabling SMEs to streamline operations and scale sustainably.

“SMEs remain the backbone of the Kenyan economy, yet access to finance remains one of the greatest barriers to their growth,” noted Jane Isiah, KCB Bank Director of Retail Banking. “Entrepreneurs often operate on very tight cash flows with limited resources, poor visibility on spending, and difficulty separating personal and business expenses. By offering this solution, we enable them to secure financing for operational expenses, manage costs effectively, and meet their business targets.”

The card simplifies business payments by clearly distinguishing between personal and company expenses. It also strengthens oversight through customized spending limits for employees and unlocks exclusive merchant perks and global discounts.

Chad Pollock, Vice President and General Manager of Visa East Africa, added: “By offering a faster, more efficient payment system to our SME customer base, we are solving critical business needs—enabling them to prosper with limited downtime. This, in turn, fosters the development of both the business sector and the Kenyan economy.”

This launch follows KCB’s recent partnership with Visa to introduce a “Tap to Phone” contactless payment solution. That innovation allows customers to make secure payments using NFC-enabled smartphones. Together, these collaborations reinforce KCB’s commitment to empowering customers and merchants by strengthening a reliable, end-to-end digital payment ecosystem.
