iXAfrica to Host Oracle Cloud Region in Nairobi, Kenya

iXAfrica Data Centre Limited has partnered with Oracle to host the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) region in Nairobi, Kenya

iXAfrica Data Centre is known for being the largest hyperscale, carrier-neutral, and AI-ready facility within East and Central Africa.

In an announcement made in January 2024, H.E. President William Ruto reiterated that the new public region will help meet the strong demand for OCI services in the country.

iXAfrica has solidified its role as Kenya’s hyperscale leader by becoming OCI’s chosen hosting partner. Its AI-readiness, carrier neutrality, and strategic proximity to subsea cable landing stations make it the only facility in the region equipped to handle massive, immediate public cloud deployment.

“We are delighted to be in execution mode to bring OCI to Kenya,” said Snehar Shah, CEO of iXAfrica. “With this collaboration, iXAfrica is leveraging the renewable energy, talent, and abundant submarine and national connectivity available in our market.”

The collaboration between iXAfrica and OCI serves as the new backbone of Kenya’s tech ecosystem, fueling the digital revolution.

Local hosting clears the path for deploying high-performance, latency-sensitive applications and seamless AI integration, positioning Kenya at the forefront of the global digital market with secure and scalable infrastructure.

“Around the world, governments and enterprises rely on OCI for its security, scalability, and ability to run mission-critical workloads that enable innovation at scale,” stated David Bunei, Country Leader Kenya, Oracle. “These unique capabilities and our collaboration with iXAfrica will further support the growth of the country’s digital economy.”

iXAfrica Data Centre’s infrastructure, including power, construction, and connectivity frameworks—is now in the final stage of deployment, enabling the facility to operate in full execution mode to support hyperscale cloud platforms.

Ultimately, the readiness of the facility is a testament to iXAfrica’s commitment to providing the robust, scalable foundations required for the global cloud era. It is an investment built to global standards that empowers tech giants to thrive in the African market.
