Equity Bank Confirms Intermittent Downtime on its Digital Banking Channels

Equity Bank has issued a public notice confirming an ongoing service disruption affecting its digital banking platforms. The bank described the issue as an “intermittent service downtime” that has impacted customer access to several key digital channels.
In a statement, Equity assured customers that its technical team is actively working to resolve the issue and restore services as soon as possible.
“We are experiencing an intermittent service downtime on our digital banking channels. Our technical team is working to resolve the issue as soon as possible. We appreciate your patience during this time,” the statement read.
The downtime is affecting several of Equity Bank’s digital platforms, including Equity Mobile App, Equity Online Banking Portal, USSD Banking (247#) and EazzyBiz, the bank’s business-focused digital banking platform for bulk payments and collections.
These platforms are widely used by Equity Bank’s customers for daily banking activities such as fund transfers, airtime purchases, loan access, utility bill payments, and account management.
In addition to addressing the technical issue, the bank also took the opportunity to caution customers against ongoing fraud attempts, urging them to remain vigilant during the downtime.
“Please remember, Equity calls you from only ONE number — 0763 000 000. DO NOT engage with anyone asking for your personal banking details. Equity will never ask for your bank details, PIN, Password, OTP or Card information on phone or SMS,” the bank emphasised.
Customers are encouraged to follow Equity Bank’s verified social media pages and official website for real-time updates.
