Kenya Airways, Qatar Airways Sign Strategic Partnership

Kenya Airways and Qatar Airways have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a strategic partnership aimed at enhancing connectivity between Kenya and Qatar, while offering greater flexibility and travel options for global passengers.
The agreement, signed in Doha by Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Officer Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer and Kenya Airways Group Managing Director and CEO Mr. Allan Kilavuka, marks a significant milestone in strengthening aviation ties between the two carriers and their respective regions.
As part of the collaboration, Qatar Airways will introduce a third daily flight between Doha and Nairobi under a codeshare arrangement with Kenya Airways. Additionally, Kenya Airways will launch new flights between Mombasa and Doha during the upcoming winter season, which will be marketed by Qatar Airways. These enhancements are designed to provide seamless connections and a broader range of travel options for customers across both airlines’ networks.
Beyond passenger services, the two carriers will explore further cooperation across various areas of their operations, including cargo, ground handling, airport services, product development, loyalty programs, procurement, and maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services.
Speaking during the signing ceremony, Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer said: “This partnership is another testament to our deepening engagement with the African continent. As we mark 20 years of service to Kenya, this agreement reinforces our commitment to supporting Africa’s growing aviation sector. Our collaborative efforts, including our recent investment in Airlink, reflect Qatar Airways’ broader strategy to contribute to the continent’s evolving economic and aviation ecosystem.”
Kenya Airways CEO Allan Kilavuka added: “This collaboration aligns perfectly with Kenya Airways’ ongoing turnaround strategy, which has already led to a return to profitability for the first time in over a decade. It will further strengthen our efforts to grow tourism, enhance air cargo capabilities, and contribute to economic development across Kenya and the East African region.”
The partnership brings together two globally recognized, award-winning carriers dedicated to delivering excellence and expanding their global reach through innovative and customer-centric cooperation.
