Epson unveils OCXO to power next-gen networks

Epson has introduced the OG7050CAN, an advanced oven-controlled crystal oscillator (OCXO) that addresses growing power efficiency demands in data-intensive industries.

This new OCXO is 85% smaller by volume and consumes 56% less power than Epson’s previous models. The compact 7.0 × 5.0 mm, 3.3 mm high OCXO is engineered for use in base stations, data centers, and other communication infrastructures where stability and precision are paramount.

With an increasing demand for efficient devices driven by 5G, AI, IoT, and upcoming 6G technologies, Epson designed the OG7050CAN with a focus on reducing both energy consumption and space requirements. By incorporating Epson’s miniaturized SC-cut crystal unit and optimized low-power oven structure, the OG7050CAN stabilizes frequency faster and offers a highly reliable performance at lower operating costs.

“Epson is committed to delivering products that advance both technology and sustainability,” said Epson, Regional Head for East and West Africa, Mukesh Bector.

“Our new OCXO combines Epson’s innovative crystal technology with precision engineering, providing robust solutions that meet the evolving needs of data and communication industries worldwide.”

Epson’s OG7050CAN will be available for sampling in April 2025 and will be presented at the International Timing and Sync Forum [ITSF 2024] in Spain from November 4 to 7, where Epson is a gold sponsor.
