AI-Powered OPPO Reno12 Series Launched in Kenya


OPPO Reno12 Series: OPPO has officially announced the launch of two new AI Phones –  OPPO Reno12 and Reno12 F. The phones introduce a suite of GenAI features that the company says are set to unlock new realms of productivity and creativity. 

They also represent a new chapter in the history of the popular OPPO Reno Series and the first major release under OPPO’s commitment to accelerate the adoption of AI Phones.

The OPPO Reno12 and Reno12 F will be available for pre-order from August 23 to September 1, 2024. The Reno12 is priced at Ksh 69,999, and the Reno12 F at Ksh 49,999. Pre-orders can be made through the OPPO Kenya website, e-commerce partners, LOOP, and OPPO physical stores nationwide.

As a special-pre-order campaign, in partnership with LOOP, customers who purchase any of the Reno12 series devices using either their LOOP Card or LOOP App will get up to Ksh 6,000 cash back and a special-pre-order gift.

OPPO Reno12 Series AI Features

The Reno12 Series as we mentioned introduces a suite of breakthrough GenAI features covering a range of everyday uses. With the newly updated AI Eraser 2.0, users can easily remove passing strangers in photos with a simple tap supporting removal of a wide range of objects and natural filling in generated backgrounds at a faster speed.

AI Smart Image Matting 2.0 meanwhile has been updated with enhanced accuracy, allowing for multi-subject cutouts that can be saved as standalone stickers for future use. Also included on the phone is AI Studio, which provides a personalized AI-powered photography experience that can transform regular portraits into unique digital avatars.

Thanks to the easy-to-use AI Toolbox, users can conveniently call on these features from the sidebar to boost their productivity across a range of scenarios.

OPPO Reno 12 5G (Unboxing video) features an AMOLED 6.67” panel with a 120Hz refresh rate and 1200nits brightness. There’s HDR10+ support available on this phone, coming from a 1080p screen. It also comes with an IP65 rating for water protection while the screen is scratch-resistant thanks Gorilla Glass 7i.

Powering the phone is a Dimensity 7300 Energy chip plus 12GB of RAM and  512GB of onboard storage.

For the cameras, the Reno12 features 50 MP (primary) + 8 MP (ultrawide) + 2 MP (macro) + 32 MP (selfie) cameras.  For charging OPPO has added an 80W wired that it claims can up the 5000mAh battery in 46 minutes. Other features include Bluetooth 5.4, 360-NFC, and BeaconLink calls via Bluetooth with over 200m range.

The OPPO Reno 12F on the other hand comes with the same 6.67” AMOLED panel, a 120Hz refresh rate, and the brightness can reach 2100 nits. There’s however no HDR10+ support but the phone has an IP64 rating.

The phone is powered by a Dimensity 6300 chip and comes in a 12GB + 256GB variant. Reno 12F keeps the camera setting of Reno 12 5G.

The phone comes with a 5000mAh battery and OPPO has squeezed in a 45W charging kit under its hood for this model.

Both phones ship with Android 14 and ColorOS 14.1.
