Kenya Power prepaid token system to be unavailable from Sunday

The Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) has announced that its prepaid token system will be unavailable from Sunday 2nd June 2024 to Monday 3rd June 2024  to facilitate upgrade.

During this period, Kenya Power says customers will not be able to buy electricity from all the vending points including Kenya Power offices, M-PESA Paybill number 888880, Airtel Money and banking channels.

“We wish to inform our customers that the prepaid token vending system will be unavailable from 10:00 PM, Sunday 2nd June to 10:00 PM, Monday 3rd June to enable us to upgrade our systems for improved service delivery. ” a statement from the company reads.

The upgrade is part of the process Kenya Power has been undertaking recently to improve its service delivery to customers.

This will also be the second time this year that the prepaid system has experienced a disruption. In February, a downtime affecting the system led to customers being unable to access their tokens, an issue that the company resolved a day later.

This time around, Kenya Power is warning prepaid customers early and has advised them to stock up to avoid any inconvenience.
