The OPPO Find X5: Our Three Favorite Features
OPPO brought its flagship device, the FIND X5 to Kenya about a month ago, quite an interesting device featuring a number of interesting features.
This OPPO flagship introduces an advanced camera system powered by MariSilicon X that supports 4K Ultra Night Video capabilities; 120Hz Billion-Colour Bionic Display; 5G performance, a 4,800mAh dual-cell battery that supports 80W SUPERVOOC plus 30W AIRVOOC wireless charging; IP54 Water and Dust Resistance, among other interesting features.
“With the Find X5 Series, we have raised the bar for flagship smartphones in terms of style and performance, while never stopping in our exploration of new possibilities.” William Liu, Vice President and President of Global Marketing at OPPO said during the launch.
The phone looks really good – a great screen, some pretty good cameras, speedy and lag-free performance the Find X5 is definitely a phone we can consider in our shortlist.
We have spent about a week with the phone and in this article, we will be highlighting our three favourite features – The build and Display, the Cameras and Battery. To be honest, we have really enjoyed our time with the OPPO Find X5.
OPPO Find X5 Design and Display
The OPPO Find X5 has a premium build with a matte finish on the back: smooth, textured, easy to grip and barely troubled by fingerprints. The rear camera has a distinctive design which doesn’t look bad at all. The phone comes in Kenya in Black or White colour options – the review unit we had was white. The silver aluminum frame around the edges also looks really nice.
The phone features a 6.55-inch screen, with the overall dimensions being Find X5 160.3 mm x 72.6 mm x 8.7 mm (that’s 6.31 inches x 2.86 inches x 0.34 inches). The OPPO Find X weighs just 196 grams.
The power button sits on the right as you look at the phone, while the volume controls on the left. Down at the bottom is where you have room for the SIM tray, the USB-C port, and a single speaker. Important to mention that there’s another narrow speaker up at the top, embedded in the bezel.
OPPO Find X5 has no IP68 waterproofing and dust-proofing rating, meaning you got to be really careful when handling it.
OPPO Find X5 is indeed a fine-looking smartphone with a sleek and polished design.
OPPO Find X5 Cameras
One of the key selling points for this device is the cameras. There is a triple rear camera setup that houses a 50-megapixel Sony IMX766 primary sensor with an f/1.8 lens and optical image stabilisation (OIS), along with another 50-megapixel Sony IMX766 sensor with an f/2.2 ultra-wide lens. At the front, there’s a 13-megapixel telephoto shooter. All three lenses feature PDAF (phase detection autofocus), and the primary also features OIS for stabilisation.
OPPO is really taking image processing and colour seriously, hence the development of its own MariSilicon X neural processing engine and its partnership with Hasselblad. The outcome from all this combination is generally strong results from all three cameras.
The 2x optical zoom might not be all that impressive The phone takes photos that are sharp, vibrant, and very detailed even in low light.
Video defaults to 1080@30, but if you go into the settings the Find X5 is capable of shooting 4K@60.

OPPO Find X5 Battery
The batter is also another area where the OPPO Find X5 really excels. The phone comes with a 4,800mAh capacity battery, which does quite a good job and should be able to last you a whole day. On normal use, we still had around 40% of juice left.
While we didn’t put the phone through anything that was too demanding, we found ourselves with at least 40% juice left. There’s fast 80W charging that goes from empty to full in roughly 40 minutes in our tests. There’s also fast 30W wireless charging, and even reverse 10W charging here, quite impressive specs if you ask me.
Conclusion
Just as we mentioned at the beginning of this article, OPPO got everything almost right with the OPPO Find X5. The phone runs on a very capable Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor, along with some 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage, Pretty good cameras and battery life. The phone with a very good design that makes it deserve a second look.
The device is available in OPPO shops countrywide for a recommended retail price of Ksh 99,999. It’s also available on Jumia, Kilimall, Skygurden, Masoko and Safaricom shops.
