Tired of the long queues and passport delays at Nyayo House? Well, you can now apply for, renew or replace your Kenyan passport and pay for it online.
Thanks to a new portal called the eCitizen portal, which is being manned by Department of Immigration services. The portal is set to enhance fast, secure and convenient services delivered to the citizens.
However, at the end you will be required to print out a form, sign and date the form, add any documents or photographs that are needed, and return it for processing.
eCitizen portal is a portal for meant to help citizens access information and services provided by the Kenyan Government.
Through the portal one is also allowed to pay using mobile money, Credit, Debit Cards and online banking from local banks. It should take atleast 10 working days to get your first passport once your form has been physically submitted at the Immigration offices. For all other application types, it should take at least 5 working days. It can take longer if more information is needed or your application hasn’t been filled out correctly.
To sign up, all one needs is his or her National ID card number. One also has to follow four simple steps to have an account created, first, fill in your ID number and your first name on the ID, second step, fill in your email address and then verify your account through a link sent to the email address you shared, third step share your contact and a verification code is sent to your mobile number, once you fill the verification code you move to the final step where you are asked to Upload a passport size photo of yourself to proceed (Maximum Dimensions 500px by 500px) and you are good to go.
Once fully implemented the eCitizen portal will offer a total of 15 services which include: Provisional Driving License, Business Name Registration, Business Name Search, Notice of Marriage, Issuance of a registrar’s certificate, Solemnization of marriage, Commissioning of affidavits, Special licenses for marriage, Driving Test Booking, Interim Driving License, Driving License Renewal (1 Year), Driving Class Endorsement, Duplicate Driving License, Driving License Information Corrections, Official Search (Nairobi Blocks), Land Rent Clearance Certificate, Application for Passport and Application for Kenyan Visa.
the ecitizen registration is not working as it refuses to accept the same verification code that it sends out. help!
