Andela Learning Community Surpasses 100,000 Learners
Tech talent company Andela has announced that its developer learning community. Andela Learning Community (ALC) has now surpassed 100,000 learners.
Andela’s Learning Community (ALC) was launched in 2017 in partnership with Google to identify and certify Android developers through Google’s Udacity course. Other previous partners for the program include previous Pluralsight, Facebook, Salesforce, and Microsoft, among others.
Available for engineers at all stages of their careers, the ALC offers access to in-demand technology courses from learning partners as well as connects engineers to employment opportunities through its job network initiative.

This 100,000+ learners milestone is very important to us because it shows that we have been able to achieve the goal of building talent not only across Africa but now globally spanning six continents and nearly 100 countries. Alongside surpassing 100,000 ALC learners, Andela has also launched a new public community that enables engineers to access additional learning resources and information, connect with mentors, source career opportunities as well as interact with their fellow learners.
In July last year, after announcing that it is going fully remote, the startup that helps tech companies build remote engineering said it is now accepting engineer applications from across Africa. In the same year, Andela also laid off 135 staff across five markets. According to reports, the layoff mostly affected the company’s senior staff.
