Former US President Trump Launches His Highly-Anticipated ‘Social Media Platform’

Former US President Donald Trump has launched his highly-anticipated ‘social media platform.’ To many people’s surprise, however, this is not a social media platform.

Actually, it’s just a blog that’s regularly updated with what on Trump’s mind from time to time. Content is shown in a Twitter-Esque way which is evocative of his love for Twitter. The blog roll is designated a special page on Mr. Trump’s official website.

You can like posts (Tweets?) and even share them on Facebook and Twitter using available share buttons. You can also sign up to be notified about new posts via email and phone.

A Twitter spokesperson says users can share content from the website, “as long as the material does not otherwise the Twitter Rules.”

The feature has been available on Trump’s website for some time now. The first post was published on March 24, nearly two months after being permanently banned on Twitter and Snapchat.

Interestingly, however, is the first post is merely a few days after Jason Miller, Trump’s senior advisor, said in an interview that Trump is building his platform.

But launching a mere WordPress blog is a big sell-out to Miller’s sentiments of Trump’s social media platform becoming “the hottest ticket.” However, it has the potential of attracting “tens of millions” of readers.

Facebook also banned Mr. Trump indefinitely following the catastrophic US Capitol Hill attack. His YouTube channel was also suspended after the fiasco.

Trump and Social Media

Trump’s future on social media is still up for debate. He could be back soon on Facebook and its photo and video sharing app, Instagram, if Facebook’s Oversight Board, commonly referred to as Facebook’s Supreme Court, decides so. The ruling will be revealed tomorrow.
