Microsoft unveils ”Microsoft Band” to help you monitor your fitness

Microsoft Corp has launched “Microsoft Band” a new device which Microsoft says has been  designed for Microsoft Health, for people who want to live healthier and be more productive.

With “Microsoft Band”  users will be able to monitor their fitness and exercise regime, marking the world’s largest software company’s debut into the wearable technology market.

The band has 10 smart sensors for heart rate monitoring, calorie burn measurement, and also advanced sleep quality tracking.  It will keep you connected at a glance with helpful, smart notifications including incoming calls, emails, texts and social updates as well as access to Cortana.

”Today, we are taking our first steps with the industry to empower people to achieve more with their fitness and wellness.” Microsoft said in a Blog Post.

Microsoft says The Microsoft Band is now available in the US in limited quantities at MicrosoftStore.com and starting October 30th at Microsoft Stores for $199.

Microsoft also unveiled The Microsoft Health app that  will collect data from the fitness band.

The Microsoft Health platform will include a cloud service for consumers and the industry to store and combine health and fitness data to create powerful insights. Microsoft Health will be available for consumers from the new Microsoft Health app  on Android, iOS and Windows Phone.
