Bolt launches initiative to celebrates heroes helping fight Coronavirus
On-demand transportation platform Bolt is celebrating extraordinary heroes who have been on the frontlines day in and day out in the fight against COVID-19. The company is doing through an initiative dubbed #BoltHeroesDay, as the country prepares for Mashujaa Day celebrations.
The celebration day has been initiated to honor, appreciate and celebrate individuals for making selfless decisions in the fight against COVID-19 and for their relentless and altruistic acts of service to humanity and to their communities during the pandemic.
“We are very pleased to celebrate the Mashujaa Day with our community at Bolt. We have always been about supporting communities, whether it’s our community of riders and drivers and their families, friends and fellow city dwellers. These brave men and women have shown excellent acts of service to their communities and humanity during these tough times,” said Ola Akinnusi, Country Manager at Bolt.
Individuals following Bolt social media pages can also take part in honoring their extraordinary heroes by nominating a hero or heroine in honor of Mashujaa day. This could be their mum, a person they admire in business, someone doing something to make lives better or someone positively touching a life in any shape or form and they can stand a chance to win a month’s worth of ride credits and a Bolt Heroes hamper fit only for heroes.
“The gallant acts of these individuals have been lifesaving and heroic during this pandemic. They have selflessly offered services to the people while putting theirs on the frontline either as drivers, delivery persons, essential workers or by offering any other services that left a mark of hope. We therefore join the country to celebrate these noble acts of humility, contributing to the socio-economics and national progress of a society”, added Ola.
Bolt is not only celebrating the noble achievements of the shujaaz but also looking at the continuous contributions and impacts riders have on each other.
”As Kenyans celebrate their heroes, Bolt would like to thank all its drivers-partners for being a part of this fight against Coronavirus and always following the guidelines, precautions and safeguards that were provided together with the Ministry of Health.” the company said in a statement.
