Infinix HOT 10 Review

Infinix HOT 10 Review: Infinix launched the Infinix HOT 10 in Kenya two weeks ago. The device is selling at Ksh.14,000 and it comes with some pretty interesting specs including a MediaTek Helio G70 processor, 5,200mAh battery, up to 3GB of memory, and 64 of internal storage.

This Infinix is the successor of the HOT 9 that was launched earlier this year. In June this year, Infinix also launched the HOT 9 Play (Specifications) which as we mentioned in our review was indeed a budget standout. Infinix tried to get everything right with the phone, including its price segment, same as it has done with the HOT 10.

Infinix said during the launch that the device promises massive improvements offering a 123% and 64% performance upgrade on single CPU and Multi CPU frequency, respectively, compared to HOT 9. We already did the unboxing for you. In case you missed it you can watch it below.

For Ksh.14,000 what can the device really offer?

The design is good, nothing really to complain about here. With a 6.78-inch HD+ IPS LCD panel with a hole punch, the device is huge. You might struggle to hold it in your hand but if you love huge displays then you will love it. If you struggle using it because of the large display then the one-hand mode should be able to help. We also saw this on the HOT 9 Play.

The huge display offers plenty of room for gaming and watching videos. That hole punch houses an 8-megapixel front camera. The display performance is basically what you would expect in terms of brightness and colour accuracy from a phone at that price range

The back is made of plastic but Infinix added a case in the packaging just to help you protect the phone from scratches. It is also at the back that Infinix added the fingerprint sensor which is fast and responsive.

At the bottom, you have the 3.5mm port, USB port, a microphone, and the speakers located at the far left.

In terms of performance, there is a Helio G70 processor and some 3GB of RAM which handles everything perfectly well. Great to see this processor in a phone at this price range. Again, there’s nothing really to complain here. The performance is quite impressive and is able to handle day to day tasks with no lags.

The Infinix HOT 10 also comes with 64GB of internal storage which can be upgraded thanks to the available microSD card slot. This space should however be enough for you to store your files.

For the cameras, we’re getting four of them at the back. Headlining the camera module is a 16-megapixel primary camera lens. The other two lenses are both 2-megapixels, one for depth sensing and macro shots while the last one is an AI Lens. The selfie camera on the other hand is 8-megapixels.

The shots are basically what you would expect especially with some good lighting. You also get plenty of camera modes to shoot from – AI Cam, beauty, Bokeh, Super Night, AR Shot, Google Lens, Panorama, among others. The phone also allows you to shoot videos at 720p, 1080p or 2K resolution.

Check sample shots below.

The selfie camera on the other hand does not also disappoint. Check a samples selfie we took with the phone below. The Wide selfie mode allows you to accommodate more people in your selfie.

Overall, the Infinix HOT 10 is a solid shooter. You can check more photos on our official Instagram page.

Infinix Hot 10 comes with Android 10 and XOS 7 which features a number of improvements and features like Gaming Mode and Social Turbo. There’s still bloatware present and those annoying ads keep popping up. There’s also the smart sidebar to easily access your frequently used apps and tools.

Then there’s the 5200mAh battery which was our favourite InfinIX HOT 10 feature. The batter does an incredible job and on standard use, it was able to last us almost two days. This is impressive. It is what you would expect from a bigger battery. There’s no fast charge support but considering how long the batter was able to last us we really are not going to complain.

In conclusion, the Infinix HOT 10 is a device we would really recommend for anyone looking for a budget phone. Compared to the previous devices in this series, most of which we have reviewed here, Infinix has made some massive improvements.

The performance is top-notch thanks to the gaming processor, the display is what you would expect from a phone at this price range and the battery life is just amazing.

Remember this device is available in two variants – the regular Hot 10 which is selling at Ksh 13,999 and the Hot 10 Lite for Ksh 10,499.
