Huawei AppGallery Boasts 490 Million Monthly Users Globally

Huawei’s annual developer conference saw the company share exciting news on the future of their mobile software business. For Huawei Mobile Services, the company reported new milestones as against 2019.

After ramping up App Gallery since the Google ban, Huawei’s Play Store alternative now has 73,000 local apps, up from just 6,000 in 2019.

The Huawei AppGallery also boasts a 490 million monthly user base while the total users on the platform have hit the 700million mark.

Besides, the Huawei Mobile Services (HMS) ecosystem now has over 1.8 million developers. Against 2019, the number of developers in the ecosystem has doubled. The success can be attributed to the company’s large splash on HMS to attract more developers since last year.

To date, the company has 96,000 global apps integrated with HMS core.

According to Huawei, the HMS ecosystem is now the third-largest in the world.

“HMS ecosystem is now the third-largest in the world, and the HMS core achieved a tremendous improvement. Together with the many Huawei teams, we made the impossible possible within a year,” says Zhang Ping’an President of Consumer Cloud Service, Huawei Consumer Business Group.

The sales in new Huawei phones with HMS pre-installed also played an essential role in the success of the company’s ecosystem after being sidelined from Google in May 2019 by the US government.

According to Canalys, Huawei became the number smartphone company in Q2 surpassing Samsung. The company shipped 105 million smartphones in the first half of 2020.

“Global sales of HMS mobile phones grow rapidly since May this year, and gain strong support from developers, partners, and especially global consumers.”

“With that, we invite more developers and partners to join us actively, as we bring to life your innovations with our fully open capabilities, to benefit more consumers.”
