TECNO last evening officially unveiled its new Camon device, dubbed Camon 16 Premier. The new phone boasts a high display refresh rate, fast charging technology, 8GB of memory, and a quad-camera setup.
TECNO Camon 16 Premier price wasn’t mentioned at the launch, but we’ve spotted it selling on Jumia at KES 28,499. The Jumia model is accompanied by free HiPods, TECNO’s wireless earphones.
The Tecno Camon 16 Premier is a direct successor to the Camon 15 Premier launched in Kenya earlier this year. Given the short period since the last launch, the upgrade isn’t so dramatic. However, the Camon 16 Premier is introducing some distinctive features in the entire Camon series. Talk of the 90Hz display refresh rate and 33W fast charging technology.
A signatory to the Camon brand has been cameras, and the new TECNO Camon 16 Premier has a total of four. You get Sony’s IMX686 64-megapixel primary lens, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens, a 5-megapixel macro lens, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. The rear camera array includes a quad-LED flash.
On the front, the phone is armed with a 48-megapixel primary shooter for selfies. Moreover, the camera is pegged with an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens with a 105-degree field of view.
The Camon 16 Premier has a fingerprint sensor placed on the side. The main reason for this is to provide a better visual sense to the entire design, TECNO explains.
With a 6.9-inch FHD+ 90Hz display, TECNO Camon 16 Premier is not a considerably sizeable sized phone. The entire system is powered by a 4,500mAh, which supports 33W fast charging technology. It’ll be interesting to see how that charging brick fills up the device.
It ships in a variety of colors, including Ice Crystal Blue, Glacier Silver, Mistry Gray, Cloud Sea White, Clear Water Blue, and Agate Black.
