FedEx Express Expands To Kenya

FedEx, the international shipping company is eyeing for a share of East Africa’s logistics business. The American company has announced its entrance into the East Africa market, with Kenya being one of its key target markets.

The entry of FedEx Corp’s subsidiary FedEx Express in Kenya means that local users can have direct access to FedEx services. These include its wide coverage – currently in more than 220 countries across the world.

For end customers, this means that you can now order goods directly from abroad without a hassle.

Despite the availability of third-party providers in the country who offer such services, FedEx Express’ entry means shipping goods from international eCommerce platforms (like Amazon and eBay) will be easier.

FedEx services that’ll be available include customer care services, sales support, and dedicated account management features. All of these will be offered via new FedEx offices that will be opened in Kenya’s capital, Nairobi.

It will be able to benefit both individuals and businesses in the country.

“We see great potential for East Africa. With a rising middle class, and the growing integration of Africa’s markets, Kenya remains poised for future growth,” said Jack Muhs, Regional President of the Middle East, Indian Subcontinent and Africa (MEISA) region at FedEx Express.

Like other businesses that have been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, FedEx Express has largely downed its tools.

“The safety of our team members and customers remains our top priority. As an essential-service provider, FedEx is committed to delivering critical supplies to healthcare providers and communities in need, as Kenya and countries around the world respond to the COVID-19 pandemic,” he added.
