Coronavirus: Here’s How To Clean Your Phone Properly

The coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) continues its tour, and has, unfortunately, made it to over 100 countries around the world.

Kenya has already confirmed seven cases so far, as of the time of writing. As governments and health practitioners relentlessly preach the importance of personal hygiene, one of the most vulnerable objects we touch is our mobile devices.

Working from home is heavily advised, and we have a new buzz word in town: Social distancing. Oh, and please don’t touch your face, nose, and eyes, either – its been heavily emphasized.

As we continue to keep our hands clean, our phones, among other constantly touched surfaces and objects, can act as a safe harbor for the virus. Here’s a go-to guide that you can reference to keep your phone clean.

The Don’ts

Don’t use anything that may affect the wellness of your device. These include things like abrasive materials, chemicals, and even hand gels.

Besides, while cleaning, avoid getting moisture in any opening, and don’t submerge the phone in any cleaning agent, even if it’s water-resistant.

The Do’s

The best way to clean your phone is by using a damp soft micro-fiber. The cloth can be dampened with water and merely any soap.  After that, dry your phone with a dry and clean cloth.

If your phone has a case, don’t forget to clean it, too. The phone and the case should be cleaned separately.

For iPhones, well, just because Apple must standout, gently wiping with 70% isopropyl wipes will get the job done.

After your phone, your hands should follow suit. Wash your hands, please.
