Microsoft to merge different versions of its Windows operating systems into one
Microsoft has confirmed that it intends to merge different versions of its Windows operating systems into one huge windows platform system.
This was announced by Satya Nadella,Microsoft CEO during the company’s quarterly earnings call.
The CEO told analysts that the company would “streamline the next version of Windows from three operating systems into one single converged operating system,” that would cover all screen sizes.
Previously, Microsoft had multiple teams producing different versions of Windows working separately from each other. But “Now,” Nadella said, they have one team with a common architecture.
Microsoft currently runs three different major versions of its OS – Windows, Windows Phone and Xbox.
Microsoft will howevr still sell different editions of its operating systems, for instance, a Windows Pro edition, a Windows Enterprise edition, a cheap one tightly bound with Bing for low-price devices.
Nadella has also promised that Microsoft “unify our stores, our commerce and developer platforms.
