Infinix is selling its latest device, the Infinix HOT S3X on its new e-commerce shop X-Mall for Ksh 17,500. The phone was launched about a month ago and we only got a chance to get our hands on it just recently.
We have the specs highlighted in our previous article which you can check here. In this article, we’re just going to unbox the device and also tell you some of the features we like so far.
One of the key highlights of the device is the notch. The device is actually the first phone from Infinix to come with this feature. We first saw the notch on the iPhone X before all manufacturers went ahead to copy it. To be honest, that thing looks ugly. Why should you cut off a part of the phone? Although some people who actually saw me with the Infinix HOT S3X told me they would actually buy the phone because of the notch and ….yes, the name, S3X. smh
Well, let’s go ahead and unbox the Infinix HOT S3X.
Packaging
The Infinix HOT S3X comes in a blue-ish box.
Opening the box you get the first thing you see is the device.
Opening the box further you get the usual accessories which include: a white USB cable, a charger head, a plastic transparent back cover, a screen guard, a sim ejector pin, user manuals and a warrant card.
I must admit the I love the overall design and feel of the Infinix HOT S3X is really good. Infinix decided to add a notch display to the device which brings a whole new feeling and experience to the phone. I am not a fan of notches though. It is, however, becoming a trend despite critics describing it as the worst part of the iPhone X :). Ever since the iPhone X made the cut-out in the display try to look fashionable, Android smartphone makers have been queuing up to adopt it and looks like we will now be seeing it on budget smartphones.
The volume and power buttons are all located on the right side.
The opposite side houses separate slots for the two SIM cards and microSD card.
The headphone jack is located at the top.
The bottom houses a microphone and a standards microUSB port.
At the back, you have the dual camera set-up located at the top left. The fingerprint sensor is placed at the centre with the Infinix logo just below it.
Specs
The HOT S3X runs on the Android Oreo operating system which has major feature upgrades that include battery usage optimization, wide color gamut, better Wi-Fi signal detection among other key benefits. The device is powered by a 430 Qualcomm Snapdragon Octa-Core processor coupled with Android 8.1 Oreo mobile operating system topped on with the company’s XOS skin version v3.3. It comes with a 3GB RAM, and 64GB of internal storage and supports a microSD card. The battery is a massive 4000mAh and supports a 2A quick charge. Infinix says the battery combined with the energy-efficient XOS, provides at least 2-day usage for an average user on a single charge.
The selfie camera on the HOT S3X is 16MP integrated with the latest AI technology and more pixels that is expected to completely transform selfie images. You also get a dual rear camera setup; 13MP and 2MP respectively with Bokeh Effect and Dual LED Flash. Check sample images below.
