#BlackFriday: Jumia Kenya Promises Best And Competitive Prices


It’s now 10 days since the Jumia Black Friday sales went live. Sales which will be running for a whole month to December 13th. During the first week, Jumia says more than 3 million customers logged onto the Jumia site to secure deals at affordable prices. 

“It’s been an exciting start to the Black Friday Festival – with customers reacting positively to the offers our partners have put forward.’’ Sam Chappatte, the Jumia Kenya Managing Director said in a statement.

With the fluctuating foreign exchange rate that has affected the prices of goods and services, Kenyans are turning to Jumia Black Friday deals to make purchases thanks to the reasonable prices being offered by the e-commerce site.  

One of the key features of this year’s event Jumia says is the significantly larger range of deals on offer. The retail challenger features 500,000 different products on sale so customers can benefit from a large range of products at affordable rates.

‘’Even a quick price comparison of popular outdoor markets and physical stores shows that Jumia Kenya is keeping good on its word of giving shoppers the best prices.’’ Diana Owusu, Jumia Kenya Chief Commercial Officer said. She adds that Jumia remains competitive and in several cases cheaper than several well-known retail shops, outlets, and open-air markets.

For instance, the Samsung J1 Ace smartphone is currently retailing at Ksh.7,999 on Jumia while on Amazon it’s being sold at Ksh.10,800. The Huawei G5 Mini on Jumia is also selling at Ksh. 12,999 while on e-commerce sites like Amazon, it’s selling at Ksh.16,900. The very best price one can get for the Tecno Camon CX Air at offline stores is Ksh.28,000 but Jumia is selling it at Ksh.13,300. Jumia is also selling the iPhone 7 Plus 32GB at Ksh.85,605 while at an offline store you will have to part with something around Ksh.100,000.

This week, Jumia it is shifting focus to Black Friday XXX- Friday 24th where customers will 1000 more deals, more treasure hunts, and more flash sales. This will be the largest day of the event its launch will be a fusion of entertainment and e-commerce over the course of a Concert featuring East Africa’s top boy-band Sauti Sol.
