Tecno DroiPad 7D Review: The Ideal Tablet For Your Kids

We have had the Tecno DroiPad 7D for a quite a while now and as we have mentioned in all our previous articles, including our Unboxing piece, the tablet is quite something with its price range.  The new entry-level tablet was released into the market a couple of weeks ago and  is actually one of the cheapest tablets running the latest version of the Android operating system.

Design and Display

TAB2.1

The Tecno DroiPad 7D packs a 7 -inch display with a 1024×600 px resolution. Well, this is quite low and below the average 720p you would expect on a 7-inch display because you can’t stream on YouTube at FHD or even HD but remember this is an entry-level tablet so this should not surprise us.

The DroiPad 7D is spots an all plastic body with rounded edges. Being a budget friendly device, we can say this was expected.  The most interesting thing about the DroiPad 7D is the Kevlar pattern on the back. The pattern gives the table an elegant look

The front part of the device doesn’t hold much, it looks generic with no form of Tecno branding. At the top of the screen is the front 5MP camera aided by a single LED flash for low-light selfies.

Well, you should not have to worry about fitting the tablet in your pocket as it is very light-weight.

Storage and Performance

Well, unlike most tablets in the same price range, the DroidPad 7D comes with the latest version of Android, Nougat 7.0. Android Nougat 7.0 as we have told you before brings a lot of features such as split screen multitasking and bundled notifications which make the tablet experience worthwhile.

The tablet features a 1GB RAM and is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core processor and packs a 16GB internal storage which is expandable up to 256GB via the MicroSD card slot.

Because of the 1GB RAM you might experience lags when you try playing heavy games. Well, again this should not surprise you as the tablet is not targeted to high-end users.

Kids Zone Support

We can not avoid mentioning the Kids Zone feature on the DroiPad 7D tablet. This is probably one of the most important features on this tablet because you can let young children play with tablet without you having to worry about them accessing some sites, features or applications.

The feature allows you to set a password and when kids exit the Kids Zone, they must enter a password set by their parents or the tablet user.

When you leave the the tablet charging, you should also not worry about kids sneaking into your room and using it. They will come in contact with a ‘’Dear Kid, device is charging now, please have a rest’’ message on the screen.

Camera

Don’t expect too much from the Tecno DroiPad 5MP rear camera and 2MP front camera. Well, the images produced are not bad. Both the cameras are also equipped with LED flash.

The camera software also has features like white balancing, scene mode, color effect and exposure but when it comes to the actual camera performance, as we said, don’t expect  much. It gives you nothing much than what you would expect from an entry-level device.

Below are some two photos taken while testing the DroiPad 7D camera.

Battery

The DroiPad 7D tablet comes loaded with a 3000mAh battery capacity which I can rate as average. But again, maybe Tecno could have considered making the battery 4000mAh but the performance isn’t bad. This could be due to the low-power processor and the low screen resolution on the device.

The Nougat OS also has some battery saving capabilities which help the battery stay for longer periods.

Would I buy the Tecno DroiPad 7D?

Tecno DroiPad 7D

Mmmmh here is what I think, if you are looking for a budget friendly and little tablet for your kid or gift your little nephew or niece, then you definitely should get the DroidPad 7D. The Kids Zone on the tablet looks like the perfect tool to keep young children in check. But if you are considering using it for things other than surfing , using social media then well, be ready the tablet won’t offer much

But still, the Tecno DroiPad 7D is one of the best tablets you can get at this price range.
