Orange has rolled out its 3G network service into Uasin Gishu County. The 3G network will initially cover Eldoret town and its environs, the Moi University locality and Iten.

The launch of the 3G network in Eldoret is part of the company’s ongoing plan to connect all counties across the country to Orange’s high-speed network.

Company CEO Mickael Ghossein said that they are dedicating part of this year’s capital expenditure investment to rolling out 3G networks across the country.

“Our 3G network footprint in Kenya now covers Nairobi, Kisumu, Mombasa and Eldoret and will progressively move towards other areas of the country,” he added.

To celebrate the roll-out of the 3G network into Uasin Gishu County, Orange is offering 100% data bonus on all Internet bundles from 20MB to 20GB. The offer will be available countrywide to both Internet on mobile and Internet everywhere (modem) customers. Valid from April 25 to July 25, subscribers will be able to use the bonus data between 10pm and 6am, daily.

For customers to subscribe to the offer, they will be required to dial #123#, select option 3 and then 2 for the offers from their Internet enabled phone. Customers can check their usage by dialing *131# on their mobile phone.

The 3G network footprint in Kenya now covers Nairobi, Kisumu, Mombasa and Eldoret.

With the Eldoret 3G network, Orange Telkom Kenya is looking at increasing its market share backed by the fact that it has the best 3G network in the country in terms of quality of service, a point that was highlighted by the industry regulator, the Communications Commission of Kenya (CCK). Moreover, the recently released sector statistics report by the CCK for the second quarter of the year 2013/2014 has mobile data accounting for 99% of the total Internet subscriptions. Mobile data subscriptions grew to 13 million from 11.6 million the previous quarter, with the development of 3G identified by the regulator as one of the contributing factors.
