Galaxy A57 5G and A37 5G Officially Launched in Kenya With Bigger AI Ambitions

The new A series launch with a quiet assertion that AI is no longer a premium extra but something users are expected to rely on every day

Samsung Electronics has officially launched the long-awaited Galaxy A57 5G and Galaxy A37 5G in Kenya, introducing updated mid-range devices with expanded AI capabilities, upgraded cameras, and long-term software support.

The two devices are now available through Samsung Experience Stores and authorized retailers nationwide, with pricing starting at KES 49,000 for the entry-level Samsung Galaxy A37 5G.

The launch positions the Galaxy A57 5G as the top model in the lineup, with a slimmer design and enhanced AI features, while the A37 5G focuses on delivering similar core functionality at a lower price point.

AI and software focus

The new A series introduces what Samsung calls “Awesome Intelligence,” a suite of AI tools integrated into One UI 8.5. These include voice transcription in the recorder app, AI-assisted content selection, and expanded photo editing features such as Object Eraser and Auto Trim.

The devices also integrate AI agents including Bixby and Google Gemini, enabling natural language commands and multi-app task execution. Samsung is extending these capabilities beyond its flagship line, placing AI as a standard feature in mid-range devices.

Thinner design

Beyond AI features, Samsung has reworked the physical design and internal architecture of the A series. The Galaxy A57 5G introduces a 6.9 mm chassis, making it thinner than its predecessor, enabled in part by a slimmer Super AMOLED Plus display stack. It also shifts to an aluminium frame with Gorilla Glass Victus Plus on both sides, bringing materials closer to Samsung’s premium devices.

Under the hood, the A57 5G runs on the Exynos 1680 (4 nm) processor, delivering around 10% CPU improvement and a 42% increase in neural processing performance. The A37 5G moves to the Exynos 1480, with a significantly larger jump in AI-related processing compared to the previous generation.

These gains are directly tied to Samsung’s push toward on-device AI, rather than general performance alone.

Camera upgrades extend beyond resolution

Both models feature a triple-camera system built around a 50MP main sensor, supported by ultra-wide and macro lenses. The A57 5G differentiates itself with a 12MP ultra-wide camera, compared to 8MP on the A37.

Samsung has also introduced smoother focal length transitions during video recording on the A57, reducing visible jumps between lenses. Combined with an upgraded image signal processor, the system improves low-light performance under the company’s Nightography suite.

Performance, battery and connectivity split the lineup

The Galaxy A57 5G includes a larger vapor chamber, expanded by 13%, to sustain performance during extended workloads such as gaming or recording.

Both devices retain a 5,000 mAh battery and move to 45W wired charging, aligning charging speeds with Samsung’s higher-end devices. Wireless charging remains absent.

Connectivity further separates the two models. The A57 5G supports Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 6.1, while the A37 5G is limited to Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3, reinforcing a tiered approach within the A series itself.

Long-term software support and security

Samsung is extending software longevity in the A series, offering up to 6 generations of Android and One UI upgrades, alongside 6 years of security updates.

Security features include Samsung Knox Vault, a hardware-based protection system, and a range of privacy tools such as a Security Dashboard, Private Album, and real-time privacy alerts.

Positioning within Samsung’s broader strategy

“The new Galaxy A series reflects our continued commitment to AI democratization,” said Evelyn Munene, Head of Product and Marketing, Mobile eXperience at Samsung East Africa.

“Samsung is treating AI as a baseline expectation, not a premium add-on.”

The release extends Samsung’s push to embed AI across its product range, moving features once reserved for premium devices into more accessible price tiers.
