Kenya Tourism Board, Visa and Kenya Airways Launch Discounted Travel Campaign
The Kenya Tourism Board has partnered with Visa and Kenya Airways to roll out a new travel campaign offering discounted trips between April and September 2026, as the country looks to strengthen its tourism sector.
The campaign, which kicks off during the Easter period, will see travelers enjoy a 5% discount on local flights and up to 8% off inbound international travel via Kenya Airways. To access the offer, customers must pay using a Visa card and apply the promotional code VISAKQ at booking.
Speaking during the launch, Kenya Tourism Board CEO June Chepkemei said the initiative is designed to enhance Kenya’s competitiveness as a global travel destination through data-driven strategies.
“This strategic collaboration with Visa and Kenya Airways is aimed at strengthening Kenya’s position as a premier global tourism destination through innovative, data-driven marketing,” she said.
Chepkemei added that the partnership will enable the three organizations to jointly design and execute targeted campaigns across local and international markets, leveraging their combined reach and expertise to boost visitor numbers and destination visibility.
A key pillar of the collaboration is the use of advanced data analytics. Through Visa’s global insights on travel and spending behavior, KTB and Kenya Airways will gain access to destination-specific intelligence to inform marketing strategies and improve resource allocation.
Michael Berner, Senior Vice President and Group Country Manager for Southern and Eastern Africa at Visa, noted that the partnership will also support businesses across the tourism ecosystem.
“Kenya is one of Africa’s most vibrant and diverse destinations. Through this collaboration, we are leveraging local insights to craft tailored, practical solutions while empowering SMEs across the tourism value chain with advanced digital payment tools,” he said.
On the aviation front, Kenya Airways Chief Commercial and Customer Officer Julius Thairu emphasized the airline’s commitment to improving customer experience through accessibility and seamless travel.
“This campaign allows us to offer real value to travelers while encouraging the use of secure digital payments across our booking platforms,” he said.
The initiative also marks an expansion of the ongoing collaboration between Visa and the Kenya Tourism Board, with a strong focus on integrating technology into tourism promotion. As part of the agreement, Visa will provide KTB with access to its Government Insights Hub, an analytics platform that delivers detailed insights into traveler spending patterns, seasonal trends and key source markets.
In addition, the partners will co-develop payment infrastructure and loyalty programs aimed at driving tourism revenue from both domestic and international markets. By promoting a seamless “payment-anywhere” experience, the initiative seeks to eliminate friction in transactions and enhance the overall visitor experience.
Through coordinated marketing campaigns across Africa and other key global regions, the partnership is expected to boost cross-border spending while accelerating the adoption of digital payments throughout the travel journey.
The move comes as Kenya continues to position itself as a leading tourism hub in the region, with stakeholders increasingly turning to technology, data and strategic partnerships to drive sustainable growth in the sector.
