Bboxx, an Africa pay-as-you-go off-grid solar and energy-as-a-service company, has appointed Justus Mucyo as its new Chief Operating Officer (COO).
In his new role, Justus will be responsible for driving operational excellence and sustainable growth across Bboxx’s eight markets. He will work closely with Group CEO Anthony Osijo and country Managing Directors to strengthen performance, profitability, and impact.
Justus returns to the company after previously serving as Managing Director for Bboxx Rwanda and Bboxx Kenya, where he played a key role in expanding operations into new markets. With extensive experience in managing multi-country businesses in East Africa and his previous role as Chairman of the Solar sub-sector under the Energy Private Developers (EPD), he brings a blend of strategic insight and hands-on leadership.
Welcoming the appointment, Bboxx CEO Anthony Osijo said: “I’m delighted to welcome Justus back to Bboxx as Chief Operating Officer. His deep expertise in global business expansion and experience in our two largest operational markets position him perfectly to accelerate our mission of championing Africa’s economic empowerment and unlocking potential across the continent.”
Commenting on his return, Justus said: “It’s a privilege to be back at Bboxx where I have spent more than a decade tackling energy poverty. My priority will be to leverage our technology, talent, and distribution network to deliver life-changing products and services to communities across Africa, while ensuring profitability and sustainability. I’m excited for this next phase of the Bboxx journey.”
Bboxx operates a proprietary operating system powered by advanced data analytics, enabling it to provide clean energy, clean cooking, mobile technology, e-mobility, and financial services to underserved communities. The company employs more than 3,000 people and has positively impacted the lives of over 5 million people across its markets.
