vivo V50 With Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 SoC, 50-Megapixel Selfie Camera Launches in Kenya


vivo has officially launched the vivo V50 smartphone in Kenya. The phone succeeds the vivo V40 (Review), which was launched last year.

vivo is describing the V50 as its most advanced portrait flagship smartphone to date. Just as its predecessors, the vivo V50 features Professional Portrait capabilities co-engineered with ZEISS. vivo adds that the V50 takes visual quality to new heights, enabling users to capture and share memories with unique style and exceptional clarity.

Beyond its imaging prowess, the V50 boasts a sleek, aesthetic design and a powerful, slim long-lasting 6000 mAh (TYP) battery, thanks to vivo’s BlueVolt technology with ultra-fast 90W FlashCharge. Crafted for a seamless user experience across various scenarios, the V50 stands out with its competitive performance and power enhancements.

The vivo V50 sports a 6.77-inch full-HD+ (1,080 x 2,392 pixels) quad-curved AMOLED display with up to 120Hz refresh, 4,500 nits of peak local brightness, and 387ppi pixel density.

The phone is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 SoC, paired with up to 12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of onboard storage. It ships with Android 15-based FuntouchOS 15 out of the box.

For the cameras, the Vivo V50 features a 50-megapixel primary sensor with an f/1.88 aperture and optical image stabilisation (OIS) support alongside a 50-megapixel ultrawide shooter with an f/2.0 aperture at the back. The front camera uses a 50-megapixel sensor with an f/2.0 aperture for selfies and video calls. As we mentioned, the device comes with Zeiss collaboration.

The V50 also debuts vivo’s next-generation virtual lighting technology, AI Aura Light Portrait 2.0. Utilizing AI algorithms and a 143x ultra-soft fill light, it delivers studio-quality, multi-angle lighting that is both soft and atmospheric. Two new cinematic portrait lighting styles, Rembrandt Lighting and Butterfly Lighting, further enhance portrait shots.

Other AI-backed photo-editing features that come with the phone include  Erase 2.0. It comes with other AI features like Circle to Search, Transcript Assist, and Live Call Translation.

The vivo V50 houses a huge 6,000mAh battery with 90W wired fast charging support. vivo claims the V50 delivers up to 6 hours of talk time after just 10 minutes of charging from 1%.

For security, the handset has an in-display optical fingerprint sensor. The phone also meets IP68+IP69 ratings for dust and splash resistance.

The V50 is available in Mombasa Blue, and Satin Black colour options. The Dual Ring Camera Module combines functionality with sophistication through luxury-grade engraving, matte precision Diamond Pattern, and high-gloss cut corners, showcasing vivo’s dedication to meticulous craftsmanship.

The vivo V50 will be available in Kenya starting April 15th, 2025, for Ksh.69,999 in both online and offline stores.
