REVIEW: Love and Coffee Serves a Rich Blend of Romance and Revolution

Set against the backdrop of the powerful coffee industry of Kenya, Love and Coffee is a captivating drama brewing romance, family tensions, and the zeal of transformation within one of the country’s most lucrative yet controversial sectors.

The film follows Sarah(Wambui Ngugi), a talented, passionate barista who dreams of transforming Kenyan coffee and Felix(Khula Budi), a son of a very powerful food import empire. They are in love, but the relationship faces challenges of heritage, class divides, and the lingering shadows of the past. They try to change the industry and champion it ethically but must also prove that their love, like coffee, can withstand the pressure.

Love and Coffee balances romance and social issues all told through an engaging and thought-provoking narrative. The awe-inspiring cinematography captures Kenya’s beautiful coffee farms and the rich café culture of Nairobi, immersing viewers in remarkably beautiful viewing experiences.

The principal actors put up brilliant performances, complemented by unmistakable chemistry that makes the journey of Sarah and Felix appear very real and deeply moving.

Besides the romance, Love and Coffee boldly tackles the problems in the coffee world, such as the exploitation of farmers and corporate greed, which gives weight and importance to the tale.

The beautifully woven tale of Love and Coffee intersperses love with ambition and social change to evoke feelings that are hard to forget.

Given its solid performances, profound themes, and breathtaking visual splendor, this film should not be missed by romantics and lovers of socially relevant cinema alike.
