Google TV Gets Smarter With Gemini AI

Google TV is getting upgraded and will feature AI-powered Gemini bringing enhanced voice control, search, and YouTube integration. This new update is slated to launch later this year.

Google made this announcement at CES 2025 and the new feature will enable natural conversations without repeating the “Hey Google” prompt before each command. This will be the first time third-party TVs from TCL, Hisense, and Sony will get Gemini.

With this new update, you could search for media by asking “What are the new releases from Netflix, Prime, etc?” or ask general questions and Google TV will show results from YouTube.

Google also demonstrated how users could easily get personalized content retrieval from Google Photos such as asking for trip videos.

Another feature that the tech giant showed off was the upcoming “always-on” mode for some TVs that ship with proximity sensors that detect when a user is nearby.

Google is also planning to let consumers use this integration to control smart home devices such as accessing your video doorbell feed, dim lights, and more with just your voice.

Other TV manufacturers like LG and Samsung are also bringing AI to their TVs by integrating Microsoft Copliot Assistant.
