Rural ISP Mawingu expands network to Mandera County

Rural Internet Service Provider (ISP), Mawingu, has announced the expansion of its network to Mandera County in Kenya.

This latest expansion brings the total number of counties connected to its network to 30.

It also marks a significant step in Mawingu’s mission to bring reliable and affordable internet to underserved regions of the country.

In its second H2 2024 progress update, Mawingu’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Farouk Ramji, expressed the company’s dedication to expanding access to connectivity in rural areas in Kenya.

“Mawingu marks yet another milestone towards our long-term vision of making meaningful connectivity accessible to more Kenyans at very competitive price points, comparative to other service providers, by building sustainable, flexible infrastructure in underserved regions,” he said.

Alongside the expansion into Mandera, Mawingu says it has also enhanced its network coverage in Garissa County through significant investments in fibre delivery infrastructure. The ISP plans to lay more than 30 kilometres of fibre in Garissa, aimed at improving the quality and reliability of its connectivity services in the county.

Mr. Ramji adds “Our progressive expansion into more counties across Kenya, with a focus on providing meaningful Internet to these unserved and underserved areas has been largely informed by key learnings and strategic insights.”

“Mawingu remains committed to going the extra mile to truly meet our customers at their connectivity point of need. To this end, we are firmly focused on expediting our mid-term growth strategy of expanding our connectivity to additional counties across Kenya.” Mr. Ramji concludes.
